- Indications:
- Antibiotic: Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It is particularly effective against infections of the ear, nose, throat, urinary tract, skin, and respiratory system.
- Common Infections: Used for the treatment of infections like bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, ear infections, and sinus infections.
- Stomach Ulcers: Sometimes prescribed in combination with other medications to treat Helicobacter pylori infections, which are associated with stomach ulcers.
- Dosage Instructions:
- Adults: The typical dose for most infections is 250-500 mg orally every 8 hours, or as directed by your doctor. For more severe infections, higher doses may be prescribed.
- Children: The dosage is based on the child’s weight and the severity of the infection. Usually, it is 20-40 mg/kg of body weight per day, divided into doses.
- Special Instructions: Complete the full prescribed course of the antibiotic, even if you feel better, to prevent antibiotic resistance. Do not take more than the prescribed dose.
- Side Effects:
- Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mild skin rash.
- Severe: Severe allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, watery or bloody stools (a sign of Clostridium difficile infection).
- If any serious side effects occur, seek immediate medical attention.
- Warnings:
- Allergy Alert: Do not use if allergic to penicillin or any other cephalosporins (another class of antibiotics).
- Kidney and Liver Health: Use with caution in people with liver or kidney problems, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.

- Expiration Date:
- Amoxicillin should be used before the expiration date on the packaging. Do not take it after this date as it may be ineffective or unsafe.
